Bill Conway – Founder

With 45+ years of hospitality experience, Bill has made a significant impact for his partners and ownership groups. Launching SharCon Management in 1990, Bill and the SharCon team continue to revitalize, renovate, rebrand, and reposition hotels and other assets.



Rocky Conway – Owner & President

Rocky Conway, President and CEO of SharCon Management and SharCon Travel, brings over 20 years of experience in hotel management, specializing in sales, marketing, and revitalizing distressed properties. Known for driving market share and RevPAR growth, Rocky has successfully turned around bankrupt hotels, achieving 150% market share across SharCon’s portfolio. His leadership has earned several awards, including a 2014 RevPAR award for the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Washington, DC. Certified in Revenue Management by Best Western, IHG, and Marriott, Rocky has also secured multi-million dollar contracts with local and government businesses. He is an active member of the Maryland Hotel and Lodging Association and the Prince William, Greater Manassas, Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Colin Byrne – Chief Financial Officer

As a former Chief Financial Officer for Keolis NA, Colin brings extensive expertise in accounting and financial controls to SharCon, overseeing seamless financial processes across the estate to ensure accuracy and integrity for our clients. He is responsible for managing accounting functions for all properties in the SharCon portfolio, including budget development and internal controls, ensuring that financial statements and reports are completed accurately and distributed in a timely manner. Before joining SharCon, Colin led all financial, accounting, treasury, tax, and insurance activities at Keolis North America. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from University College Dublin and his Master’s in Business from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Dublin.

Mike McCarthy – Chief Operations Officer

Specializing in hotel repositioning and rebranding, Mike McCarthy combines his extensive background in operations, sales & marketing, and channel and revenue management for both franchised and independent hotels. He drives owner and brand metrics, ensuring profitability and satisfaction for ownership. Mike leads the daily operations and project management for SharCon's portfolio of hotels, with 25 + years of experience in the hotel industry. Previously, he served as the Director of Upscale Brands and Major Market Director for IHG in the Washington, DC area, driving guest satisfaction and enhancing revenues exceeding $250 million per year while shifting market share for a large portfolio of hotels. Mike currently serves on the board for the Committee for Dulles and has been a past member of the Tourism Board for Warrenton County, VA, and the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Visitors Bureau. He holds certifications from IHG, Marriott, Hilton, and Choice in Sales, Marketing, Channel Distribution, Operations, and Revenue Management.

Al Hamdi – Chief Development Officer

Al Hamdi, Chief Development Officer of SharCon Management and Development, brings over three decades of hospitality experience with IHG, Marriott, Wyndham, Choice, and Cham Palaces. With a focus on strategic growth, asset appreciation, and enhancing guest experiences, Al leads SharCon’s domestic and international expansion. His career began as a Restaurant Busperson at the Bethesda Marriott, and he has since held pivotal roles at Crowne Plaza, Radisson, Marriott, Hilton, Clarion, and Cham Palaces. With 21 years as a Hotel General Manager and five years as CEO of SKYS Unlimited, Al has honed his leadership and turnaround skills. He is an active community leader, having served on various boards, including as past Chair of the Dulles Chamber of Commerce, and has earned awards for corporate generosity and volunteerism.

Jim Fikac – Vice President Construction and Engineering

Jim, VP of Construction & Engineering at SharCon, brings over 20 years of experience in restaurant, retail, hotel, and hospitality construction. Beginning his career in 1995, Jim progressed through roles as lead foreman, superintendent, and project manager, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the construction process. At SharCon, he oversees all aspects of construction, from budgeting and pre-construction to subcontractor management and project completion, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Known for his accessibility and commitment to professionalism, integrity, and honesty, Jim plays a hands-on role in facilitating ground-up hotel projects and renovations. His leadership and expertise ensure that every project is completed on time and within budget.

Christine Atkocius – Vice President Sales & Marketing

Christine, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at SharCon, brings a dynamic and well-rounded background in Sales, Marketing, Client Services, and e-Commerce. Her hospitality journey began at the front desk during college, progressing through corporate finance into leadership roles that bridge guest engagement with strategic brand development. Christine has served as a Brand and Guest Liaison and Social Media Specialist, using data-driven insights to elevate guest satisfaction and optimize OTA and brand performance. Her strategic approach combines hands-on operational knowledge with a deep understanding of digital marketing, reputation management, and client relationship building. Christine’s leadership continues to drive revenue growth, enhance brand positioning, and deliver exceptional client and guest experiences across SharCon’s portfolio.
